How are server recovery fees calculated?

Our server (RAID, NAS, SAN, mirror, stripe-set, JBOD) data recovery fees comprise of two components.

(1) An up-front non-refundable evaluation fee.
This fee is to offset the risks and costs involved during the evaluation process. This typically takes 2-5 working days to complete and includes:

  • Attempting to clone all the drives in the volume.
  • Integrity checking the cloned data on a sector level.
  • Determining from the metadata (if available) what the correct volume configuration parameters are.
  • Determining the chances of recovery based on the hardware integrity of the drives.
  • Where possible, extracting a directory list of potentially recoverable files and folders and the integrity of the data.
  • Determine any hardware failures that may prohibit the assembly of the volume(s) and/or the metadata inspection.
    • Any hardware repairs will, however, only be undertaken once the final quotation has been approve.

 (2) The final data recovery fee is based on:

  • The complexity of the volume configuration.
  • The number and capacity of drives.
  • The amount and types of data that need to be recovered.
  • Any hardware or software repairs required to reconstruct the volume.
  • Additional software repairs may be necessary to decrypt or repair damaged files.
