Can you fix my drive and I will copy the data?

Hard drives often fail due to a failed head stack and typically create bad sectors, potentially causing further damage even after a successful head replacement, making the recovery process more complex than simply copying the data. Along with the head replacement, firmware-level repairs are typically also needed to stabilise the drive.

Once the repairs are complete, we perform a bit-by-bit imaging of the drive using best practices and specialised data recovery equipment, instead of a standard file copy. This approach maximises the chances of recovering as much data as possible (ideally all) while minimising additional damage to the data areas during the recovery process.

There's also a risk that the drive could fail again - sometimes permanently - during this process. The spares fee helps cover some of the labour and replacement parts needed to make the drive recoverable. In some cases, we may need to use multiple heads requiring additional spares and labour, at our cost, for a single recovery, while the remainder of the invoice is only due upon successful recovery.

It's important to note that we do not refurbish drives for reuse; our primary focus is on recovering as much data as possible.
Accessing a previously faulty drive without following best practices and professional data recovery tools and equipment could jeopardise the integrity of the drive, potentially leading to permanent data loss.
