Cell Phone Typical Data Loss Scenarios
You have come to the right place if you can identify any of these potential data loss scenarios. We have been helping our customers recover data from these and most other cell phone and other mobile device data loss scenarios since 1999.
Our commitment is to only give up on recovering or investigating your data once we have exhausted all possible solutions.
I have a phone with a dead screen. The phone still works as you can feel it vibrate, only a screen of death. Files and photos need to be recovered, and a factory reset must be done. The phone has a basic screen lock pattern, no pincode or biometrics."
The phone screen went blank, but the phone is still powered on and working. LCD is not the problem; we had two people check that; I was told it has something to do with the motherboard. Because I cannot unlock the phone, I cannot access the data on a PC."
My phone got wet, and now the screen doesn't work. I can use ADB to connect to it, but I can't pull anything because I get a permission denied error, so there might be more damage."
My phone screen does not work, and I cannot remember the login code. I have family pictures on the device, which I would like to return."
I dropped my phone, and it makes a noise when connecting to the laptop, but it doesn't show up; I just need the media from the phone (Photos and Videos)."
I have a phone that I accidentally dropped into the water. It was in the water for about 10 minutes and less than a metre deep. I let the phone dry for a day before switching it on again. After switching it on, the screen had a few lines that were not displaying correctly, but it was still reacting to touch input. The battery was low, and because of the problem, I switched it off again to let it dry further, hoping it would improve. When I tried to switch it on again, it had to be charged. After charging it for a few minutes, it switched on. Still, the screen started to act up, get blurry, and eventually go completely offline. I only care about recovering the footage from the photo app that was not backed up."
My phone was not turning on after the screen went dim/dark. The phone repair centre tried to fix it but had no luck. It is my daughter's phone; she needs the pictures and notes on the phone, and no backup is done."
My phone is stuck in starting mode. Don't want to do its factory reset before retrieving data from the phone; it gets stuck on "Phone is starting". I need to recover photos/videos from that phone. The device has what seems like a software or motherboard issue and does not fully boot up. I can resolve the problem by erasing it and reloading the new OS, but I do not want to lose all my data. Hence, it is necessary to recover it before erasing the phone and loading a new OS."
My wife's phone is black-screened, not charging, and doesn't respond when pressing buttons. Conventional retrieval software does not work. It also does not get identified when plugged into a PC."
The phone has been smashed, and I would like to retrieve all my photos. It was sent to a repair centre for repairs and recovery, but the repair centre said it could not be repaired. I don't know if they even attempted to try any recovery. I don't think so, as I never even got a call from the repair centre regarding the quote."
