My 200 GB Special Edition EIDE drive (model WD2000JB) was dropped from 30cm onto a hard floor. It is enclosed in an aluminium chassis with no shock proofing. The drive will spin up and the heads will seek but after about 30 seconds the activity stops and the drive stops spinning. The device driver loads OK (error code 0) although Windows does warn of the potential that the hardware will not work properly.
