During initial data recovery attempts the machine we used reported a BSOD error, after researching the error it appears that it was caused by overheating, the machine is fine after removing the drive. As an educated guess it appears that the PCB of the drive has burnt out as the drive is no longer spinning up. It is a Verbatim USB2.0 1TB External Hard drive."
