I experienced an occurrence which left me with lost data of about 230GB, (basically my picture library from 10 years of safari operations) by some strange issues with my notebook. My external HD is no longer visible, I looked it up and the only message I can get is "the mass storage media is not formatted, do you want to format it (y/n)"
