SYMPTOMS:
››
You receive a
device not ready or similar
error, while working.
››
The drive
no longer recognized by the BIOS
after rebooting, despite the platters spinning.
››
You receive an
operating system not found
error, when switching on your computer.
››
You receive a
primary hard disk failure, or
similar error, when switching on your computer.
››
The
BIOS recognizes the drive but with garbage
parameters.
››
There are
no grinding noises, normally
associated with electro-mechanical failure.
THE CAUSE:
Failure is due to an inherent fault on one of the
chips on the controller board of the hard disk. Fujitsu believes this is due to
a problem with a chip manufactured by a sub-supplier. The chip in question was
packaged using a plastic compound containing inorganic, phosphorus flame
retardant.

What should I do If I have one of these drives, but the symptoms are
different?
These drives are also prone to other recoverable
faults such as electro-mechanical, bad sectors and other logical issues.
